First, let me brag for a moment about CDNN. Those guys are awesome, and shipping was fantastic. I ordered Friday afternoon and they arrived Tuesday morning. CZ-82 "A" (for Average) and "VG" for (Very Good) were both in great shape IMHO. Actually, I had to keep referring back to the serial numbers matching the boxes because they both looked to be in very good shape. I got most of the shipping oil cleaned off and figured out how to
field strip. A few pulls with a boresnake and they were ready for a trip to the range.
Round 1: Initial TestBefore I get into comments about the individual guns, let me report on their similarities. First of all, I used Brown Bear 9mm Makarov 94-Grain FMJ ammo for each, at a range of 7 yards. In addition, I did a warmup session of 25-rounds each onto a single target. This allowed me to get a feel for the guns and make sure there were no malfunctions or other issues before I moved into individual tests. Both performed (nearly) flawlessly during this session. The majority of my shots fell low, but still fairly center. I attribute this to my initial handling of the CZs. The only issue was at round 6 of 25 with CZ "VG", I had my one and only FTF of the day.
Round 2: The "A" CZSince I'd already tested the single magazine that came with each CZ during my initial Round 1 session, I went ahead and swapped magazines between pistols just to make sure there were no seating or feeding issues. While they're 12-round magazines, I never fed more than 10 in at a time. For Rounds 2 and 3, I did two groupings of 5 and 5 in each. Shooting again at 7 yards, the "A" pistol had no FTF or FTE and felt awesome. The trigger pull felt good with a nice clean break.
Round 3: The "VG" CZAs I'd hoped, the 2nd CZ did not disappoint. Staying at 7 yards, I fired an additional 10 rounds (5 & 5) with no FTF or FTE. Nice and smooth, just like CZ "A". The trigger felt great. By this point, the webbing of my primary hand was getting just a touch sore, but didn't seem to affect my accuracy.
Final ThoughtsI am throughoughly impressed with the finish, durability and feel of both of these CZ-82s. Honestly, I don't know whether to be pleased that I got a 2nd "VG" quality CZ for the price of my "A", or upset that I paid for a "VG" when I could have saved the $20 extra and bought two of the "A" quality. Maybe I just got lucky, but at this point, I'm not going to complain.
All in all, these have become two of my favorite range guns. Given the price of 9mm-Mak ammo (right at $10/50-rd to the doorstep from CTD), I will be rotating them into my range trips quite often. I couldn't be more pleased.
